Since our NED joined our team in 2013 we have benefitted from his experience and knowledge in a number of ways. He acts as chairman in our monthly board meetings bringing a high level of professionalism to our board meetings in which he has a wealth of experience in financial and operational matters. I joined Active in 2007 as a controlling director with a vision of developing the company from what it was, into what you see today.
My problem however was that neither I nor any other Director had any experience of progressing in this way so the thought was very
daunting. Whilst confident that our objectives were achievable, the ‘how’ was a very different prospect.
Having grown generously during the following years, we were suddenly controlling a very different animal to that in 2007. Our decisions would have an even greater impact on ourselves, our staff and our clients so we needed to get it right. We therefore enlisted the help of
a NED in January 2011. This gave us someone to turn to for advice, someone to bounce ideas off and someone to give us confidence to continue with our endeavours. We have not only grown as a company since this date, but also as Directors of the business.
